The 22nd Guide Unit is Making A Difference!
22nd Saskatoon Guide Unit, Freedom Star District
Unit Guider: Tara B
We first decided to plant the flowers for the Church that we use for our meetings. Just to give something back to them! After finding out that they get their flowers planted for free by a member of the Church, we helped plant with the lady. This was not enough! We decided to make individual, deliverable planted flowers for people in our neighbourhood that may need a pick-me-up.
We found out through the Church of several individuals that would most likely appreciate our idea. We got flowers, pots, and dirt all together at my house. We had also made up little cards ahead of time, at one of our meetings, to put into the pots. (To brighten your day. Made by the 22nd Guides)
We planted the pots and delivered them all on the same night. We had one lady that actually turned us down! (Good learning experience for the girls!) We had a couple people cry (another learning experience).
There were a number of people not home when we delivered the pots, but all have since "tracked" me down to deliver thank-you cards!! We are sending out personal invitations to these people for our District Tea this weekend. Just to continue on the "brightening" part.
The girls still talk about this project and the Brownies would like to do it this year!!
