The 28th Guides are making a difference!

The 3rd Guides, formerly 28th Guides, have finished off 2010 in true Girl Guide form with 3 service projects:

In November the Guides chose to do Operation Christmas Child and filled 4 shoe boxes.

December 1st they made Christmas Cards for Seniors and on December 8th delivered the cards to Eamer Court Seniors Residence. Then they performed 5 songs at the Seniors Christmas program and sang the same songs while walking the hallways of Stensrud Lodge/ Then they returned to Eamer Court to serve refreshments to the seniors and guests. A special treat of three baking trays were provided by Guide

The 28th Girl Guides had a very busy start to 2010. From Thinking Day to April 28th the Guides were given the option of bringing a donation for the food bank instead of dues and we had at least 2 bags of groceries in total each week. The Guides also collected clothing to be donated to Community Living, old and broken cell phones and there chargers to SaskTel, old prescription glasses to the Lions eyeglass collection box in the Area Office, used postage stamps to the Area Office, pop can tabs for Diabetes, and Campbell soup labels to Hugh Cairns school were are meetings are held.

The 28th Girl Guides made Valentines Cards for Seniors that they took great care and pride making. Guide Leader Charlene and daughter Michayla precut all the parts of the cards and the Guides chose how to assemble the final card and which ink color and stamp to put on top to make each card unique. The cards were delivered to the Residence of Eamer Court and were greatly appreciated.

On December 9th the 28th Girl Guides Unit were in attendance at the Christmas party for the residents of Eamer Court. The girls and leaders sang "Rudolph the Red Noise Reindeer" as part of the entertainment that night,  as well girl guide Emily Peacock danced an Irish Jig in full dance costume for the residents and guests. After all the entertainment the girl guides served dainties, tea, coffee and punch to the residents and guests. Both the residents and the girls had a great time. We have been invited back any time.
